GI Joe gets castrated by Hasbro

One more organization has turned against America. The once beloved Hasbro Corporation who brought us “GI Joe – A Real American Hero”, has decided to make GI Joe into a sissy UN pansy. Of course, that is their prerogative, but my prerogative is to boycott their anti-American tripe.

Glenn Beck said it well in these following two quotes from him:

30 October 2007 – Say it ain’t so, Joe

The old saying ‘Yo Joe’ is on its way to being a thing of the past. Attempting to make a new movie about the action figure, Paramount is changing G.I. Joe’s name to an acronym standing for (not kidding) ‘Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity’ and making him part of an international force because ‘it’s a tough sell—American heroes’. Everyone loves an entity, right? Mitchell Paige was the Medal of Honor recipient in WWII for his efforts in the Battle of Guadalcanal on October 26, 1942, where, after all of the other Marines in his platoon were killed or wounded, he operated every working machine gun that he could get to, creating the illusion that there was still a large U.S. fighting force. He single handedly stopped two entire Japanese regiments en route to victory. He chuckled when Hasboro Toys wanted to use his face on an action figure years later, but he gave it the go ahead anyway–under one condition: That G.I. Joe was ALWAYS a United States Marine. Paige died in 2003—nothing like stomping on the grave of a war hero, right Paramount? Read the transcript.

And the next…

31 October 2007 – International Discussion Force

It’s G.I. Joe gate for toy company Hasbro and movie giant Paramount as they move to change the ‘Real American Hero’ to an international entity. People have not reacted kindly to the blatant disregard for a WWII Medal of Honor recipient, so Hasbro went on damage control. Here is their lame explanation (October 30, 2007 – Message to G.I Joe Fans) that has Glenn still saying he won’t buy toys from Hasbro. Read the transcript.

What do you think about that? I know it was just a cartoon, but it showed what Americans were made of! I laud the Hasbro of 25 years ago and now I think they are painting us as cowards.

  • Thanks for the heads up, Jonathan, this had completely gone under my radar. Now I know, and knowing is half the battle. (Sorry, I had to say it)

Why bother making a movie about “the real American Hero” if they’re so embarrassed of America? The anit-war types aren’t going to take their kids to a movie like that anyway, and the rest of their potential audience will be too disgusted to show up. They’re really shooting themselves in the foot.

And speaking of shooting, I wonder if they’re going to take away the entities weapons, too…

  • Yeah, give the entity a pen, a treaty, and a little white flag to wave around. That will defeat the evil Cobra terrorist organization.

I mourn the loss of G.I. Joe. My barbies will no longer have a date to the prom, they will now have to go with an entity/corporation which isn’t romantic at all. Sigh.

  • Hehe, you ladies are hilarious! Thanks for the comments.

  • Missed your comment earlier – I couldn’t agree more. Makes me want to get creative with photoshop — as soon as I know what the entity’s uniform is going to look like.
