Getting “old” is a choice

Which conversely means that being young is also a choice.

In the scriptures we are commanded to, “become as a little child”. There is a lot of meaning in the simple phrase. Perhaps one overlooked meaning could be a commandment to be young.

What, then, is it that keeps children so young? For them, the whole world is new, exciting and challenging. Children are naturally active physically, exploring and inquisitive mentally, continually curious and learning.

What changes? Why do we stop being so young?

How Do You See Life?

I just read an excellent post on Leslie Householder’s blog. It was about prospering in spite of the state of the economy. I love it when I find other people who look for the positive in everything, instead of the negative.

Every situation, is just a situation. A situation is neither good nor bad. It is only how we look at it that makes it good or bad. Just like anything. A hammer is neither good nor bad. You can build a house with it or bang your finger with it. WE are what make any situation or tool good or bad.

We view our lives through our own personal perspectives (paradigms). How life looks depends on that perspective. Our perspective is like a pair of glasses. If we have put negative tinting on those glasses, we will see things negatively. If we have put positive tinting on those glasses, we will see thing positively.

It all comes back to choice. It is our choice whether life is good or bad. We see what we want to see. We see what we (and our environment) have trained ourselves to see. If life is looking bad, or scary, or depressing, or good, or happy, or prosperous, it is because that it how you choose to look at life.

Life is what we make it. What will you make of life? How do you choose to see life? Good or bad? It is all up to you.

How to Wake up at 0500 Every Day

I love waking up early. Early for me is 0500. I do that every day. It feels great! Has it always been like this? No. My name is Jonathan, and I am an addict. I am addicted to sleep. Given the choice my body will always choose sleep over waking up. My body is naturally lazy.

The problem with having a lazy body that is addicted to sleep is that there are so many things I want to do every day. If I am sleeping in I am wasting precious time. There is so much to do and so little time. Sure my body needs to sleep, but not longer than is needful. God did not put me on this planet to sleep. Sleep is only necessary because this mortal body gets tired and needs to rejuvenate.
